soon we 'll be strolling the cobblestones of the Danish capital ! we've heard so many good things about this city. do any of you have good tips?...things to do, places to go (food to eat)
I went to Copenhagen on a short trip last fall and really enjoyed the city. The food at Kødbyens Fiskebar was just amazing. It's a great city for wandering and café sitting. Here is what I saw: http://smallsight.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/in-copenhagen/ Enjoy Copenhagen!
ive never been to copenhaguen so unfortunately i have no tips to share... but i'd really love to see the pictures of your trip:) i cant wait to visit it!
I was lucky enough to be an exchange student in Copenhagen for a year and boy is the city charming! Here are some places I recommend.
The Royal Cafe for smushi: http://www.theroyalcafe.dk/
The Laundromat Cafe for brunch (I used to work here, but I still visit it when I am in town for the food): http://www.thelaundromatcafe.com/en
Café Salonen for lunch or a beer (or even a haircut!)
If you only go to one place go to Kalaset. It has the best brunch and the best burgers. Across the street is a very quirky and charming bar called Bankerat.
@ Annelies: het Louisiana museum stond als zeker op ons lijstje. Ik hoorde van Rienk dat jullie die stad helemaal geweldig vonden, dus dank voor de tips!! Ik check zeker die ene straat.
We visited Copenhagen in summer last year. And fell in love with it. We could see ourselves living there very easily.
Walks along the waterfront.
There was a typography shop that I didn't get to in business hours in Vesterbro that I think is still there https://playtype.com/about/contact
My husband's favourite brewer is also in Vesterbro area - Mikkeller Brewery http://www.lucentimagery.com/index.php/2011/09/16/mikkeller-brewery-copenhagen/
So nice to hear you will come here for a visit! Copenhagen is a lovely city, I'm sure you will enjoy it. I've blogged about my life here for a few years now, so I suggest you take look at my blog for ideas :)
Hi Sophie, you will LOVE Copenhagen, it is soooo pretty and charming with all its bike and friendly people I really liked to stroll around Istegade, which is right behind the central station, there are a couple of cute vintage shops/furniture shops...there are also some dodgy red light district shops though...but in between you can find great stuff. I also would highly recommend going to >HAY (www.hay.dk) >Liebeshop liebeshop.dk >Lousiana the museum which is a bit out of the city. SO worth to go >Henrik vibskov/wood wood are in a great little street (Krystalgade) with nice shops >Stilleben www.stilleben.dk/ for beautiful ceramic
.....get some Kawasaki shoes they are so cheap there and super comfy! :)
Bang & Jensen is my favourite bar/café/restaurant since 2002! It's cosy and relaxed and has lots of cross stitch fishermen pictures. It's a 5-10 min walk from the station, on Istedgade. Here's the page, but it doesn't do it justice: http://blog.bangogjensen.dk/
The little design/vintage shops around St Hans Torv are really cute too!
hello! lucky you, cph is just a fantastic city! the vintage-shops are great, one of my favorite is PRAG at vesterbrogade 98. vesterbro is lovely part of the city all together, and the street istedgade (on vesterbro) is one of my favorite! (except the beginning, with all the porn-shops..:/) hope you'll have a nice stay there!
Copenhagen is an amazing place! Check out Frederiksberg Have or Dyrehaven (a train ride out of the city) if you're looking for a nice stroll. Louisiana has an amazing exhibition on right now with Andreas Gursky, which is probably one of the most amazing shows I have seen. And the museum is beautiful as well, with a lovely cafe. Bredgade is the street where a lot of galleries keep house in the city. Bankeråt, as somebody mentioned below, is a fantastical world for a good beer or sunday brunch. The Nørrebro area of the town is filled with boutiques and good cafes. Elmegade is where the Laundromat cafe is, but check out Blågaardsgade, it has some really fun pubs and a vegetarian cafe called Cafe N that serves up tasty juices and delicious breakfasts. If you're looking for a place to go dancing or mingle with the Copenhagen crowd, Drone is the place to go. It's quite far up in the north end of town, but its worth the trip. Another Nue is a great store in the centre of town with a plethora of lovely labels, you have Henrik Vibskov right across the street (worth a look), and general shopping and Strøget close by. Enjoy your stay! Hope this helped :)
The area around the Playtype store - Værnedamsvej and Tullinsgade, is the best. Book stores, galleries, cafes, cheese store... everything you could ever want!
Elmegade and Blågårdsgade in Nørrebro are great, as is Studiestræde area of Indre By. Nansensgade is also a great street.
Art Rebels is really cool, but I'm not sure if their shopfront is still at Kødboderne 18? Maybe? There are lots of great places in the meatpacking district...
I think my favourite museum is the Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket, although Statens Museum for Kunst, The Architecture Centre in Christianshavn and the Black Diamond's exhibitions have never failed me.
Hej! You should really go to the café called Grød at Jægersborggade 50 in the Nørrebro area. The name means porridge in danish, and that's exactly what they serve! Such a nice place :)
